In the studio with Lexie

Climbing trees and singing opera in the woods describes Gretchen’s early days raised on an Ohio farm: on the farm, piano study began at 4, and music of all kinds was always playing in the house.

Gretchen first studied voice with Maria Stephanides (St. Louis Institute of Music) while attending Meramec Community College. She then attended Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, studying with Bruce Able and Richard Miller.

In Seattle Gretchen studied with Marianne Weltmann and soloed extensively with orchestras and performed in the opera world. She composed songs of all styles as well, performing in concert and recitals. Her song Symphony of Brotherhood has taken her to the King Center to perform in one of the programs there during King Week, as well as to Dubai, United Arab Emirates with fellow musician, Dehner Franks, to perform this song with school children.

Presently in St Louis Gretchen is composing, performing and teaching privately from her studio. She is also a member of the St Louis Symphony chorusContact Gretchen to discuss ideas about music, lessons or performance opportunities.
